The 1993 World Games for the Deaf was held in Sofia, Bulgaria with 52 nations participating and 1679 athletes. Twelve (12) different sports were introduced.
New Zealand will be sending 3 athletes to the 2013 Deaflympics. They are:
- Daniel Carruthers – Cycling
- Talor Gilmer – Athletics
- Santana Chapman – Swimming
